About This Place

Thanh Son Tofu and Bakery is a vibrant Vietnamese restaurant and deli nestled in the heart of Seattle’s Little Saigon neighborhood at 1248 S King St. Specializing in authentic Vietnamese flavors, this cozy spot is a haven for lovers of fresh tofu, classic bánh mì sandwiches, and traditional desserts that capture the soul of Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an array of enticing aromas—fragrant grilled meats, the subtle nuttiness of freshly made tofu, and the sweet hints of coconut in their signature desserts. The menu is impressively diverse, spotlighting crispy Fried Tofu and flavorful Grilled Chicken and Veggie Tofu Bánh Mì that burst with texture and traditional Vietnamese herbs. The bánh mì selection is a standout, featuring a variety of subs like Grilled Pork, Meatball, and Vegetarian options, all layered with a moist, generous filling and served on soft, fresh baguettes. Don’t miss the Combosub Bánh mì thịt nguội, a house favorite praised for its balanced flavors and satisfying portions.

For those with a sweet tooth, Thanh Son offers an alluring dessert bar including delicacies like Cream Puff, Pudding Tofu, and the uniquely refreshing Cendol—an iced coconut milk treat that blends perfectly with the subtle sweetness of their deep-fried sesame mung bean balls. Refreshing soy milk and pandan drinks complement the savory dishes and add another layer of authenticity to the dining experience.

The ambiance strikes a humble, down-to-earth tone, fitting for a neighborhood gem. Some visitors note the space can feel a bit cramped during busy hours, but the authentic flavors and friendly service more than compensate. The location is in a busy stretch of S King St, and while some find the area a little sketchy, especially in the evening, the presence of a small fenced parking lot and daytime vibrancy makes dining here accessible and convenient.

Customer feedback highlights Thanh Son's commitment to quality and authenticity: Kevin Ao praises the fresh-made tofu and delightful coconut bean dessert, while Michael Barton urges newcomers to prioritize the bánh mì sandwiches, noting their moist, generous fillings despite room for improvement on the bread’s freshness. Others appreciate the variety beyond sandwiches with hot dishes like bánh xèo and savory delicacies like steamed custard buns. The distinct sauce that accompanies the tofu bánh mì adds an unexpected, delicious twist that keeps patrons coming back.

Whether you’re craving a hearty Vietnamese sub, exploring plant-based tofu creations, or seeking a sweet coconut dessert, Thanh Son Tofu and Bakery offers a warm, flavorful journey into Vietnamese cuisine that feels both honest and inviting. It’s an ideal spot for casual lunches or a quick treat, providing a genuine taste of Vietnam right in Seattle.

Thanh Son Tofu and Bakery is a great spot for Vietnamese cuisine and dessert. The tofu is fresh made and the bean with coconut milk dessert was delicious. The decor is nice and the area is bit shady but in the day you will be fine.

Nice location to get Vietnamese products. Not only do they sell banh mi, but they also sell soy milk, pandan, and more. The atmosphere is a stuffy since it's a busy place. The tofu banh mi is nice, but inconsistent. They do put a unique sauce inside the banh mi, which is delicious.

You're here for the banh mi. They make very good sandwiches and that's all you should order - vegetarian options are also available. The bread could be improved a bit (go early to get fresher loafs) but the fillings are moist and generous. They do offer other smaller options and drinks as well but nothing compares to the sandwiches. There's a small free parking lot on site but otherwise you're parking on the street.

Good banh mi sandwich place, not the best but really good. They also have different hot dishes you can choose, pre-made desserts, dessert drinks, food dishes (had banh xeo today), and snacks. This time had their dac biet (house special, basically with everything), steamed custard buns. The sandwich was good, bread was soft and not too hard. They were light on the pate, which i love. Had the grilled pork before and was good. The steamed buns were a nice surprise, soft buns and good custard, not too sweet. Great flavor.

I like stopping here for the Bahn Mi Sandwiches. They are a good price for the size sandwich you get. They also have a nice selection of other hot food items. They have a fenced in parking lot so it helps keep the sketchy people out.

The store’s name speaks for itself. The store specializes in tofu food, including other Vietnamese food. I am fond of their hot and tasteful soybean milk ( both sugar and no sugar) and ordinary fried tofu. I heard some complaints about their services, but nothing wrong happened to me. They have around 15 parking lots in front of the store. Sometimes, I stop by to get some tofu sandwiches for breakfast. Again, I highly recommend this fantastic place to anyone
